Lakeway, TX

Lakeway is a city in the state of Texas. It is located near Lake Travis and has a population of 19,189 as of the 2020 census. It is an exurb of the larger Austin area. The city is home to several tech companies and is a great place to live for families, singles, and retirees.

The city is mainly white. It is surrounded by the scenic Texas Hill Country. It has a small minority of African Americans and Hispanics. About 2% of the population self-identifies as two or more races. Asians make up 0.3% of the population. This city has a moderate to high risk of natural disasters.

Lakeway is located about 25 miles north of downtown Austin. It is a suburban city with the beautiful Lake Travis lakefront. Its population is over 3,000. The area is also filled with green space. The Lakeway City Park is 64 acres and has a playground, picnic areas, and basketball and volleyball courts. It also offers hiking trails.

For outdoor enthusiasts, Lakeway City Park has a beautiful park with two miles of trails and a butterfly garden. The city is also home to many live music venues and farm-to-table restaurants. You can also visit the Austin Zoo, which is home to lions and tigers. For those who are interested in history, the Bullock Texas State History Museum features many fascinating exhibits.
Lakeway’s residents are highly educated. Ninety-six percent of Lakeway residents have at least a high school degree, and nearly a third have a college degree. Moreover, the city’s unemployment rate is three percent lower than the national average. As a result, most Lakeway residents are well-off.

The first white settlers in Lakeway came in 1842 and named the area Ridgetop. Later, a 2,700-acre ranch owned by Jack Josey was settled. In the mid-20th century, three Houston-based men purchased the land and built a hotel. The name Lakeway was derived from the Gulfmont Fairway Motor Hotel in McAllen.

Residents of Lakeway can enjoy the many recreational opportunities in the area. The town is located near the city of Austin. It has numerous parks, golf courses, and other outdoor amenities. For families, the town is home to a variety of schools. The Lakeway Swim Center has residential programs, and The Magnolia School is a three to 13-year-old school.
